I am a blogging mom of three. I have a daughter in her mid-teens going on what seems like thirty. She is boy crazy and embarking on typical teenage girl ways of expressing her individuality. My sons, one nearing adulthood and another twelve-years-old, will probably always be around the age of twelve. I’m not sure guys ever really grow beyond that. (more…)

My oldest son is entering puberty. I am noticing all of the tell-tale signs. I realize my “little boy” is not so “little” anymore. He has been a gentle soul since he first began toddling about and developing his own independent character. He loved and petted the animals, never pulling tails or poking eyes. He gave his toys away generously to his playmates, always sharing with a spirit of joy. (more…)

In 2015 the world lost a wonderful man who brought us all many smiles and laughs. In January, the Napa Valley Estate of the late Robin Williams was sold. Considering his unusual quirkiness and natural goofiness, it may come as a surprise to many that his sense of style and décor was of simple, understated sophistication. (more…)

Sooner or later almost every single person will have one, a broken heart. As a mother, I observe my teenage daughter engaging in her first “real” boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Watching with the advantage of having walked a mile or two in her shoes, I know this is an unavoidable train wreck. I am already preparing myself for the inevitable day of the big break-up. (more…)

Testing The Waters

Every morning the first two things I do are wash my face then make my way to the kitchen to fix a pot of coffee. Both actions performed with water straight from my faucets. Clean water that I take for granted. Not until recently have I ever eyed that liquid suspiciously as it streamed into the sink. Oh, don’t get me wrong. There have been times when there have been certain local disasters that resulted in public notices warning everyone to boil their water until further notice. But what if authorities had not known? Worse yet, what if they had known but failed to warn the public? (more…)

Ever traveled? Yeah, me, too. Ever experienced the airline losing your baggage? Yeah? Well, not me. Ever freak out over lost baggage? Yeah? Well, not me. And here are the tips to avoid that potential freak out by never going through the baggage loss nightmare again. (more…)

Grossest Mom Job, Ever

There are lots of gross stuff this mom can handle. Got vomit? I can clean that. Have diarrhea? No problem, got that covered, too. Bleeding out? Here, let me apply a tourniquet. However, I absolutely draw the line where toenails are concerned. It must be a phobia. I wouldn’t know, I’ve never seen a mental health professional over my extremely negative feelings about toenails. (more…)

My Kids Are Cereal Addicts

My kids are addicted to cereal. I suspect this condition is common in most households. I have no one to blame but myself. I have definitely been the enabler of this addiction. In fact, I was the first cereal pusher in their lives. As soon as their chubby fingers were capable of grasping a single Cheerio, I supplied them with cereal snacks of all shapes, sizes and flavors. I quickly became a cereal pusher. (more…)

The Irony Of Beards

My husband does not have a beard or a mustache and, after finding out the kinds of things that lurk and hide within facial hair, I’m very glad he doesn’t. Beards and mustaches are gross yet more popular than ever. Current trends have men sporting hipster beards all over the place. And, it seems, the bushier and more unkempt the better. (more…)
